IHANNA was born in Iceland in 2008. The founder and graphic designer Ingibjörg Hanna wanted a certain product for her home and friends and family challenged her to start selling it to customers. Shortly after starting the company the bank crises hit Iceland. That era had its challenges but also some really positive things, the positives being that Icelandic design got a real platform in Icelandic society. Icelandic design's history is relatively short so there was something new and exciting taking place. Many new designers and design companies appeared with some great designs and ideas. THe public also wanted to support the entrepreneurs and these new companies. IHANNA first launched Krummi bird hanger which is a flying coat hanger but a sculpture when not in use. The hanger was manufactured in Iceland. This item became a huge success and can still today be found in many Icelandic homes.  In 2016 Iðunn Brynja Sveinsdóttir joined the company and the business is run by Ingibjörg and Iðunn till this day.
